What is the tree of life? And how do I attain it? All this and more will be answered in this article. But for a complete understanding of the history of Adam and Eve, please begin at part one.

Genesis 3:24 KJVS

So he drove out the man; and he placed at the east of the garden of Eden Cherubims, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to keep the way of the tree of life.

First we read that God drove out the man (and his wife) from the garden of Eden. Which we understand from the previous article is in essence the land of Israel with its headquarters in Jerusalem. Now the part we need to clarify is what were the Cherubims he placed? And a flaming sword to to keep the way? Let us start with the Strong’s Concordance:

Strong's Number

H3742

Original Word

כּרוּב

Transliterated Word

kerûb

Phonetic Spelling

ker-oob'

Parts of Speech

Noun Masculine

Strong's Definition

Of uncertain derivation; a cherub or imaginary figure: - {cherub} [plural] cherubims.

It says a Cherub or imaginary figure. Why? Well there is no physical being standing in that area set to guard the Garden of Eden nor a literal flaming sword But rather what?

Psalm 104:4 KJVS

Who maketh his angels spirits; his ministers a flaming fire:

He was making reference to the spiritual realm. Which is not physical, so he was giving you an “image” the root of imaginary to understand that in which you could not see. His angels are not physical beings they are spirits even ministers of fire. Which is why you see “flaming chariots” or “chariots of fire” used to describe the vehicles of the heavenly realm. Which is a manifestation of light and heat. Not necessarily fire as lit from a match. So the shape and color of it can differ.

Psalm 91:11 KJVS

For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways.

There job is many fold. One of which is to watch over the righteous and keep us on the path of righteousness which is the path and way of the tree of life.

Jeremiah 23:29 KJVS

Is not my word like as a fire? saith the LORD; and like a hammer that breaketh the rock in pieces?

The word of The Most High God is likened unto fire. It burns the impurities out of your soul if you choose to follow it. If you go against it, it burns your spirit and angers you, and you would rather tune it out and find something pleasant and cooling to listen to instead. This is the fire. There is no escaping the word of The Most High God. Which is why in Genesis it is likened to a sword that turns every way. A sword will cut you. A flaming sword will cut and burn you.

Hebrews 4:12 KJVS

For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

The word of God is quick which means fast as well as quicken meaning alive. And there is no blade of man sharper. It pierces not only flesh but down to the spirit. This is why people react the way they react to the sincere word of God. It is spiritual. And the only defense is righteousness. Which if you practice, will make you immune to its effects unless you sin or are in error. You become a master swordsman.

Revelation 22:14 KJVS

Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.

You see, it is only when we apply the Most High Gods words in our life that we may earn the right to the tree of life; that is, the ability to enter into the kingdom of heaven and obtain its divine gifts that were set up for us from the beginning.

Wisdom 2:23 KJVA

For God created man to be immortal, and made him to be an image of his own eternity.

From the beginning, what Adam and Eve had but lost was eternity. God created man to be like him. He wanted man to be able to live forever and never die. A major part of being Gods children. You were created to be like him in many ways. Some of which was lost but not all.

Proverbs 3:1,13,18 KJVS

My son, forget not my law; but let thine heart keep my commandments: [13] Happy is the man that findeth wisdom, and the man that getteth understanding. [18] She is a tree of life to them that lay hold upon her: and happy is every one that retaineth her.

The commandments are a tree of life. It is supposed to be rooted in your mind and spirit and grow within you. Producing good fruit in you through your thoughts and actions. That will in turn produce the fruit of eternal life.

Sirach 1:26 KJVA

If thou desire wisdom, keep the commandments, and the Lord shall give her unto thee.

The things you desire are able to be obtained through the application of Gods righteousness. But do not expect it to come immediately. As just as with fruit on a tree, it takes time. First you must grow the tree! And properly care for it, so that it may produce fruit in due season. It is a process. The Most High will bless you incrementally in due season as you become worthy of such blessings and/or in need of them.

Deuteronomy 4:6 KJVS

Keep therefore and do them; for this is your wisdom and your understanding in the sight of the nations, which shall hear all these statutes, and say, Surely this great nation is a wise and understanding people.

The commandments are the keys to our success in all avenues of life. You just have to be diligent to seek them out and learn them and begin to apply them in your life. So then, you will be worthy to obtain eternal life.

Sirach 19:19 KJVA

The knowledge of the commandments of the Lord is the doctrine of life: and they that do things that please him shall receive the fruit of the tree of immortality.
